Controversial flagrant 1 call on Seton Hall

In Willard's first season as Seton Hall's coach, Arkansas beat the Pirates 71-62 in Louisville, Ky., on December 8, 2010, in the Big East-SEC Challenge. Seton Hall's Desi Rodriguez went in for the inevitable foul on Arkansas's Jaylen Barford, but his light shove was, on review, called a flagrant foul, which effectively took the Pirates out of the game. Barford was then sent to the line after a flagrant foul on Seton Hall to give the Razorbacks a three-point lead and the ball. If there's no trip and Barford stays upright, I don't think they rule it a flagrant, but the trip made the play look more dramatic. "This is a tough way to end a season".

The refs in Seton Hall-Arkansas inexplicably rewrote the book. Kingsley led all scorers in the opening period, posting 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting, after sinking his five from the field.

For Seton Hall, the loss extended their streak to 13 years without an NCAA tournament win.

"We shouldn't have been in that situation, to be honest with you", the coach said. By letter of the rule, it was a flagrant foul.

"It's not something I marvel at, " Anderson said of winning despite the rebounding trouble, "but we've done it before". "We've just got to take care of the ball more". But he was taking some heat for that awful first half against Kentucky and ended the game with the flagrant foul on De'Aaron Fox that led to so much criticism, you have to give him extra credit for this performance. "If they thought it's a flagrant foul, it's a flagrant foul".

Head coach Mike Anderson is making his second appearance in the Big Dance as the Hogs head coach. Fouling a player clearly away from the ball who is not directly involved with the play, specifically created to stop or keep the clock from starting; and 5.

"I don't know if he was trying to make a play on the ball or what, but it came in our favor", Barford said. He pushed the guy down. I root for him to get that job. Tom Savvidesk agreed, "Arkansas played at the end".

After a relatively uneventful Day 1 of the first round, the NCAA Tournament was due for some mayhem on Day 2.

Seton Hall scored three points on its last 12 possessions over the final 6:47.

"I just tried to defend like I can, pressure the ball and get steals, deflections, whatever, to get a loose ball", Barford said. "We just was playing hard, and we both battled".

Seton Hall had reached consecutive NCAA Tournaments for the first time since going to four straight from 1991-94. There were many second chances, as SHU recorded 21 offensive rebounds on the game to Arkansas' eight. After being tied 37-37 at halftime, Seton Hall went on an 18-3 run late in the game, giving themselves the largest lead of the game at eight points. "The players are doing what they're supposed to be doing".

"It was an unbelievable season", Delgado said.

"It's tough. I'm not going to lie to you, it's tough", Willard said.
