(NASDAQ:AMZN) will price the new Echo speaker at more than $200, compared to $149 the price of the regular Echo device.

The personal digital assistant packs in eight microphones, beam-forming technology and noise cancellation meaning it should be able to hear your voice from any direction - even when music is playing. With the Show, the company announced video calling for the device as well as free voice calling and messaging on the Alexa platform to all Echo devices, as well as the Alexa app, which can be used on iOS and Android.

Being an Echo product with Amazon's Alexa voice-activated assistant built in, the Show can also perform all of the same tasks as the rest of the Echo lineup. These messages will be available in the Alexa app or on your Echo device (a light will glow green to alert you to new messages). The "Drop In" feature allows someone on your contact list to automatically start a video call using your Echo Show. Together with a front-facing 5-megapixel camera, this enables the Echo Show to make video calls. The new Echo Look features a camera that allows users take photos without having to a phone's camera.

Rumors have been flying about a touchscreen Amazon Echo device.

Amazon's Echo Show will cost buyers roughly $300 (which roughly translates to Rs 19,400) and the device will start shipping from June 28 in the U.S. to begin with.

It offers the same functionality as the original Echo, you can set timers with it, ask trivia questions, control various smart home devices, but it also adds an extra layer of contextual information thanks to the new visual element. By saying "Alexa, call Dad" or similar, you can place a voice call without needing to touch anything. One of the new features is the ability to make calls to friends who have the Echo or Alexa app on other devices.

HollywoodLifers, do you want an Amazon Echo Show? It goes live for pre-orders today, and the shipping will begin around the 28th of June.

Amazon has dominated the voice-controlled speaker market.
