Black Adam set to take on Superman

Now, Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, has his sights on Armie Hammer playing Shazam.

Last year, Johnson announced he will portray Black Adam in a movie based on the DC Comics supervillain, and now he's teasing Teth-Adam's debut will be a "really cool surprise". Johnson is attached to play Black Adam in that film, and while development on these movies continues with no release date yet set, Johnson has been thinking about who he wants to square off with onscreen, and he recently revealed a highly tantalizing name. Shazam, which is scheduled to hit the screens in 2019, was initially planned as the first film to introduce Black Adam. "That's in the cards".

One more thing to note from the interview was when he was asked about a putting a potential "smackdown on Superman".

Inevitably, though, introducing him as a pure villain against a moral extreme like Superman would be a mistake, because it gives the audience little space to fall for him as an anti-hero (which is definitely what the DCEU needs if they are to trade on him as their version of Loki). Today we drink like gentleman [sic] and come together as friends.

Inevitably, that has made the entire Internet leap to the conclusion that he's going to appear in Justice League, since that's coming up soon.

Ever since he was dubbed "franchise Viagra", Dwayne Johnson has been one of the most in-demand performers in Hollywood. "We're excited for what the future brings", he wrote before adding a slew of hashtags. "And we're like yes, all right.' I'm not even going to tell you his name, I'm just going to say Lone Ranger". "But I do hope they build it out really nicely, and I think they can".

With everyone's attention on DC's Wonder Woman and Justice League, its easy to forget some of the other plans in the DC Extended Universe post-Justice League.

Shazam is now set to hit theaters in 2019.
