Crews searching for Titusville-bound airplane that went missing near the Bahamas

A small plane containing a NY designer, her boyfriend and two young sons mysteriously disappeared from radar while flying over the Bermuda Triangle on Monday, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The plane was traveling from Puerto Rico to Florida Tuesday when air traffic control in Miami lost contact with the twin-engine MU-2B aircraft. The Coast Guard has not confirmed whether the debris is from the missing aircraft and a search for survivors is ongoing.

"We're putting two and two together and assuming that it is, unless we get more information", said Coast Guard spokesman Luke Clayton.

Hellmann was last seen Sunday night, according to a statement her husband Lewis Bennett gave to the Coast Guard.

"I am sad and in shock", she wrote. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force also are were assisting in the search.

"There's no indication of significant adverse weather at the time", Kelly said.

Ulrich, who flew for the Coast Guard Auxiliary for nine years, is an engineer and designer of high performance race cars.

Four people from NY who were on the plane are also missing.

The US Coast Guard District's spokesperson Petty Officer 3rd Class Eric Woodall said that the wreck "appears to be airplane debris." .

Ulrich is a co-founder of Xootr, a New York-based company that manufactures scooters and folding bicycles.

"My ex-hubby's (Nathan Ulrich) plane is missing over the Bermuda Triangle", she tweeted. "That was a game changer-it gave us national, even global, recognition", she said.

Neighbors of Lee, New Hampshire, resident Nathan Ulrich say they are stunned by the news he was on board a plane that has gone missing in the Caribbean.
