Former Gov. Keating To Be Interviewed For FBI Director Position

The others scheduled to meet with Trump were acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe; former Oklahoma Gov. Once again today, there was no evidence from interviews of Republicans fleeing the President, as some said all was fine with Mr. Trump.

Lieberman, who was a Democrat until 2006, said in a recent interview with Larry King that an independent commission should investigate ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. He was the Democratic Party's nominee for vice president in 2000, and Connecticut's attorney general before being first elected to the Senate in 1988. Lieberman switched to being an independent in 2006.

Frank Keating is among several candidates for the FBI Director, White House Spokesperson Sean Spicer announced during a briefing Wednesday.

During last year's presidential campaign, he criticized Trump for his lack of leadership and once referred to him as "hysterical". "That includes Sen. Lieberman".

Keating, a Republican, was a two-term governor in Oklahoma and led the state during the deadly 1995 bombing of a federal building in Oklahoma City.

Lieberman holds a law degree from Yale University and worked as a lawyer before entering politics, but he does not have any law enforcement experience.

McFeely once ran the bureau's Criminal, Cyber, Response, and Services Branch that was created after the 9/11 attacks and investigates white-collar, violent and organized crime.

McCabe seems an unlikely choice.

Comey's memo - an apparent effort to create a paper trail of his contacts with the White House - would be evidence that president has tried to influence the investigation. At a recent congressional hearing, he contradicted the White House on a number of critical tops and asserted that he considered the probe of possible coordination between the Kremlin and the Trump team during the 2016 election campaign a "highly significant investigation".
