The show was inspired by the 1980s TV series about women's wrestling. Ruth's acting career isn't going so well-the trailer opens with a cringeworthy audition scene, but her luck finally turns around when she finds herself at an audition for a wrestling show called GLOW, along with a crop of other "unconventional women". Veronica Mars and Enlisted couldn't allow him to reach his full comedic and charm potential, so maybe GLOW will bring him the level of fame and recognition he's always deserved.

Check out the trailer for Netflix's GLOW below.

In the first official trailer for the Netflix series, GLOW is everything we could have hoped for: big hair, glittery spandex, tons of cocaine and the ideal balance of comedy and drama that we've learned to expect from executive producer Jenji Kohan.

GLOW will wrestle its way on to the streaming service on 23 June.

Netflix have had quite a successful run with their original comedies. The series also boasts an fantastic ensemble cast including American Gods' Betty Gilpin, Mr Robot's Sunita Mani, and Marc Maron. "And at the wheel is Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director who now must lead this group of women on the journey to wrestling stardom", reads the show's synopsis.

The new trailer for the upcoming show reveals much more in terms of what we can expect from the story itself as well as the various characters on show. That duo will also serve as executive producers alongside Kohan and her OITNB co-executive producer Tara Herrmann to create a fictionalized scenario set in the real-life, long-defunct wrestling organization.
