"Acting President Yemi Osinbajo says all Nigerians deserve a nation that works, not merely for the rich or connected, but for everyone; promising that we will, with your support and cooperation, take every step needed to create that country of our dreams".

The visit which was a part of the activities marking the second anniversary of the Muhammad Buhari's administration was essentially to interact with traders to get first hand information on the cost of goods and other food items in the market.

Accompanied by Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Aisha Abubakar and other senior presidential aides, he arrived at the market at about 3:10 p.m and was greeted warmly by the enthusiastic crowd.

Osinbajo, however, promised to engage with the market management to ameliorate the discomfort of the traders.

The acting president interacted with fish sellers and those dealing with consumables such as rice and onions who also spoke about high cost of the items.

Some who complained of inadequate markets stalls, also reported to the acting president, inability of management of the market to complete and make available the stalls they had paid for over a long time.

Osinbajo encouraged the traders to keep the prices of products affordable as Muslims kick start this year's Ramadan.

Osinbajo said in his tweet: "Honored to represent Nigeria today at G7 summit Africa outreach in Taormina, Italy". The Acting President made a decision to go to the market to feel the pulse of Nigerians.

"He also assured them that the administration is committed to improving the economy and ensure that life gets better for them", Akande said.

The acting president stated this in his Democracy Day speech released in the wee hours of Monday.

Osinbajo had earlier met with school children ahead of the Children's Day celebration in his office and presented them with gifts.
