The updates will be packaged in what the company is calling the Fall Creators Update and are expected to roll out later this year.

Other features of the update include Story Mix, which is created to make video editing easier.

Apple stands to gain through the deal if more people are able to download iTunes to Windows-based personal computers and perhaps sign up to its Apple Music streaming service.

The update would be optimal if Microsoft had a pervasive mobile operating system, but the U.S. technology giant saw Windows smartphones eclipsed by Apple and Android devices, the analyst noted. It will also enable users to move between various devices - whether its a Windows PC or Android smartphone - and continue to work on files and apps between them. There will also be a new clipboard feature that will allow users to copy and paste certain elements across different devices through a universal clipboard. All the files, including online files, can be seen in File Explorer and accessed on-demand whenever users need them.

The operating system update will allow you to immerse yourself in "mixed reality" apps and turn your photos and videos into stories using artificial intelligence, according to Microsoft. Plus, the app will let you insert 3D objects into your photos and videos.

As with other Windows 10 updates, this will be free for existing Windows 10 users. We suspect the company will announce more details over the summer. It's basically a new design language for Windows 10, and the main agenda is to give developers access to a single design language that will work across a diverse set of platforms. Joe Belfiore, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Operating Systems during the event, said, "Windows PCs will love all of your devices". While both Xamarin.Forms and the Universal Windows Platform use XAML for designing interfaces, the actual syntax is slightly different, which is what the new Standard is created to help with.

Microsoft has announced its next major Windows 10 update.

The Creators Update will also include Windows Mixed Reality, Microsoft's VR platform.

Microsoft also plans to introduce a new affordable mixed reality headset and motion controller in time for the holiday season.

iTunes for Windows 10 will include support for Apple Music, the iTunes Store, iPhones, and any other Apple device.

The company did not specify when it would be available but released a preview for early testers.

Last but not least news came of some significant entrants to the Windows store such as Apple iTunes, and Linux OSes like Ubuntu.

Not only that, but Ubuntu is also now available in the Windows Store, with SUSE Linux and Fedora Linux to become available soon.
