NASCAR fans destroy Kyle Busch for competing in Truck Series race

Improving in each round of knockout qualifying in relation to other cars, Ryan Blaney won the pole for Saturday night's Go Bowling 400 at Kansas Speedway (7:30 p.m. ET on FS1), claiming his first career pole by a mere.009 seconds over Joey Logano.

Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick finished 1-2 in the first two rounds of time trials-with Busch posting the fastest lap of the day at 190.624 miles per hour in the second round-but Blaney was fastest when it counted, on his third run on tires. Sometimes drivers who grab a victory at a plate race only do well at Daytona or Talladega or were the beneficiary of some good luck. He now heads to Charlotte, the track where he led a record 588 miles of the 600-mile Coca-Cola 600 a year ago, for NASCAR's All-Star Race and the longest race of the year at the time.

Overheating brakes had been a problem for several drivers Saturday night.

The closing laps tested Truex's resolve. But when a puff of white smoke came out of his truck with seven laps left, Rhodes had to pull down pit lane. A caution one lap later set up the final round of pit stops, and as they had done most of the night, Blaney's team got him off pit road first. "We've been getting close - qualifying hasn't been my best suit, but we've been getting better and better".

Matt Kenseth has 15/1 odds to win tonight, but I think he has some good value there.

Blaney retook the lead on another restart a few laps later, but was shuffled back to fifth after pitting during a lap 216 caution when five drivers remained on the race track. One thing to watch for is that the temperature could drop by a double-digit amount from the time the race starts until its conclusion, causing an extra headache for crew chiefs. "We also won last year's Southern 500 (Darlington) with the blue Auto-Owners Toyota".

"We were having a really good race and having fun out there and had a lot of speed", Patrick said. The vehicle just took a big step sideways into the corner and I hooked Danica. We got a lot of fans from Colorado here today. "I met a bunch of them before the race and hopefully they're all psyched". Truex won at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March.

Indeed, Furniture Row Racing has earned just about everything it has gotten.

"Awesome day", said Truex, who led a race-high 104 laps Saturday. This team rocks, man; they're so good. "There's a lot of room on this track so we'll be just fine". "We did everything right but Ben Rhodes has a curse on his back of something because something always goes wrong". There's times, there, we looked like we weren't going to have a shot at it. "We just kept fighting and made it happen". Logano and Patrick were not injured in the accident... You never forget those. He's starting the in the best spot of any of the rookies, and while there's no real reason to expect him to suddenly have the light bulb turn on at this track, that's exactly what makes him a dark horse.

"I hope Aric is alright", Logano said. "Definitely thinking about Aric and his family". "These races are so hard to win", said Truex, who had a fluke tire change problem rob him of the win after leading 172 laps previous year.

All that misfortune had left her 31st in points entering the weekend, and has raised speculation that she might walk away from NASCAR's top series after this season. But I thought we should have finished second.
