Pogba has been on compassionate leave after the death of his father this week.

Manchester United finish their frustrating Premier League season at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday, although Wednesday night's Europa League final is their main focus.

Mourinho's side looked sharp as they were put through their paces at Carrington on Friday morning and the Red Devils boss looked to be in good spirits. Individually for the kids I think it will be a great experience.

A day after head coach Peter Bosz rubbished Mourinho's claim that Ajax would have an advantage over Manchester United in Wednesday's final because they have played fewer games this season, the Portuguese hit back by questioning their opponents' participation in the Europa League. We finished fifth (in last season's Premier League), we went to the Europa League. I think Ajax make the right investments at the right times.

Per the Mirror's Jack Rathborn, Mourinho added: "I will bring three or four of the first-teamers to play one half each on Sunday".

"Youngsters like Joel Pereira, Kieran O'Hara, Demetri Mitchell, Josh Harrop, Angel Gomes, Scott McTominay".

Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who've been on the edge of the first team for most of the season, will also be involved.

He has netted 12 goals in 20 Under-18 Premier League games this season and United's squad profile says: "Gomes is comfortable and assured in possession and has a wide passing range, while also providing a goal threat from a number 10 role".

Numerous first-team players will be rested ahead of the Ajax match, with captain Wayne Rooney set to be among them after playing 90 minutes at Southampton on Wednesday.

Asked if his academy players are ready, Mourinho replied: 'All together? No.

Mourinho confirmed 19-year-old defenders Tim Fosu-Mensah, back after a shoulder injury, and Axel Tuanzebe would also play on Sunday - a bold, callow line-up borne out of perceived necessity.

Mourinho told his prematch news conference: "Paul [Pogba] is fine, a strong guy, a strong mentality. He needs to play on Sunday", Mourinho said of the French global who recently lost his father but was present at United's training session on Friday. Marouane Fellaini is the question mark; we wait for today's scans, we decided not to do it yesterday. I think that's it'. His feelings are not bad.
