Zinedine Zidane's side can become the first team to retain the Champions League title when they face his former club Juventus in the final in Cardiff on June 3.

Gareth Bale is set to miss the remainder of Real Madrid's league campaign after coach Zinedine Zidane said on Saturday he did not know when the Wales worldwide will return from injury. "And to do it for the second year in a row, we need to congratulate everyone in this club".

Atletico were inspired by a sensational atmosphere on their last Champions League game at the Vicente Calderon before moving to the new 67,000-capacity Wanda Metropolitano next season.

The banners at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium last week read "tell me how it feels", along with an image of the Champions League trophy and the words "Milan" and "Lisbon", the cities which hosted the finals where Madrid defeated Atletico in 2014 and 2016.

The visitors had not conceded twice inside the opening 20 minutes of a Champions League match since 2004 - but Griezmann ended that record after Fernando Torres was bundled over by Raphael Varane's clumsy tackle. "We will learn from it". "And if we can improve from what we have achieved so far, the future is encouraging".

However, Simeone insists Atletico will have a bright future after leaving the Calderon.

"The first thing would be to clone some of our players", he said.

Dybala isn't the only admirer Zidane picked up during his playing days, with the Frenchman widely considered one of the greatest players of the modern era first for Juventus and later for Real Madrid following a then world-record move. The midfielder brought a new energy as Real saw the game slipping from their hands. "The club has been growing tremendously in the last 5½ years".

Real Madrid are still without Gareth Bale and Dani Carvajal, who pulled a hamstring in the first leg, but Rafael Varene is available and will partner Sergio Ramos in central defence, while Nacho will probably cover at right back. When we get a star man in the Premier League - Chelsea and Eden Hazard, it's "Real Madrid want him".

Atletico is close to securing third place in the Spanish league this season, which would guarantee its return to the Champions League.

Benzema apparently wanted to go back toward the midfield but suddenly changed direction and took the ball toward the end line, where he stopped and used a couple of quick touches to fool the defenders and get past them into the open space.
