The visitors handed third defeat of the season to Mumbai Indians who will now play Qualifier 2 in Bengaluru while Pune head to Hyderabad for the final.

Supergiant is the only team to have defeated Mumbai Indians twice in the league stage, both home and away and this fact would be playing on the minds of Mumbai players.

The Rising Pune Supergiant completed a relatively straightforward 20 run win over the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

For Pune, Shardul Thakur scalped three wickets while Unadkat, Adam Zampa and Christian took two wickets each.

Smith added that they would like to relax a bit in the 4-day break they've got and hoped that they can be the better team in the final and lift the IPL trophy. On the other hand, Mumbai is't new to play such big games. Martin Guptill (0) was dismissed by Jaydev Unadkat on the very first ball of the innings caught at short cover by Manoj Tiwary.

Kings XI Punjab skipper Glenn Maxwell opined that losing the toss played a part in his side crashing to a heavy nine-wicket loss against Rising Pune Supergaint, reported PTI.

Simmons and Pollard will look to make a comeback in the qualifier after not delivering with the willow in the last match.

Earlier, Riding on some disciplined bowling, Pune restricted Punjab to 73 runs. Rising Pune Supergiant's batsmen didn't get much opportunity to bat in the last match, Dhoni will be looking to fire some runs and Smith needs to chip in by spending more time at the crease and play a captain's knock on the big occasion. Smith's side was relentless right from the start of the game.

Even Ben Stokes (0/10 in 3 overs) looked risky as he beat the bat a number of times.

"Shot selection is very important. you need to understand the situation and the conditions and respect them".

Sehwag stated that the season was better than the previous two outings for the Kings XI Punjab but stressed that the incosistency did the team in.

Lendl Simmons (59) and Parthiv Patel (38) gave Mumbai Indians a rollicking start as they started their chase of the season's highest total. Manoj Tiwary and Ajinkya Rahane struck patient fifties, setting a platform for MS Dhoni to use his wiles at the end to help Rising Pune finish with momentum.

Kings XI Punjab scored a 2017 IPL record 230/3 and restricted Mumbai Indians to 223 for six.

In the end the chase fizzled out despite some late hitting from Jasprit Bumrah and McClenaghan.
