Suspected murder case in Fermanagh

Well-known Irish musician Dinny Leonard has been supporting his late daughter Connie's son Conor, who has Down Syndrome, since the shocking incident which claimed the life of Conor's 51-year-old mother and a 55-year-old man.

Newtownbutler Comhaltas, with whom Ms Leonard played said: "We will always remember Connie with great fondness for her affection, dedication and energetic outlook shown in all areas of her life".

Former Fermanagh and South Tyrone SDLP Assembly member Richie McPhillips said Ms Leonard was a businesswoman involved in catering, as well as a musician.

Local priest Fr Lawrence Dawson said: "She shared her talents with church services here and with a lot of people in the area. We wish Conor a very speedy recovery".

"We will always remember Connie with great fondness for her affection, dedication and energetic outlook shown in all areas of her life; as an unbelievable mother, daughter, sister, music teacher and friend", said traditional music group Newtownbutler CCE in a Facebook post.

Police are treating Ms Leonard's death as murder and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the killing.

Fermanagh MLA and DUP leader Arlene Foster offered her sympathies.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamon Corrigan said: "Post-mortem examinations will be carried out in due course and at this stage we are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident".

A woman murdered in Co Fermanagh is understood to have been stabbed to death by her former partner before he killed himself.

"Everywhere Concepta was Conor was and vice-versa, she would have done anything for him".

'It is too early to say what happened but the police are investigating'.

"Concepta's father Dinny is a very accomplished musician as is Conor, they are a very musical and well known and respected family".

The dead man and woman had been dating past year until the relationship had broken up at around Christmas. This is a quite a tight-knit community and the news has upset many.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
