Minnesota wouldn't get on the board until the 6th inning when Kennys Vargas doubled to center and drove in Joe Mauer and Miguel Sano. To get down 1-0 early on he can kind of find his groove and you saw what he did.

The MInnesota Twins dropped the final game of the series Sunday 8-3 Sunday afternoon at Cleveland.

Clevinger has had just one start, with was a 1-0 win over the Royals last week. Brandon Kintzler pitched the ninth inning to pick up his 10th save.

"My early mistake cost us the game", Tomlin said of the home run by Sano.

The Indians have scored one run in their last 24 innings. The Indians, meanwhile, have lost six of their last 10 games, and the biggest reason is that the Indians are having trouble scoring runs.

Berrios is making his first start and hasn't been very good in his short career.

"I keep coming back to that word 'crisp, ' because that is what I think is the best adjective for when he's throwing good", he added. The 6-foot-6 left-hander allowed three runs and two hits, both homers. Lonnie Chisenhall hit eighth for the first time this season and he also homered.

The Twins were not simply one run better than the Indians on Friday, but one pitch.

Francisco Lindor grounded to first and Brantley popped out to end the threat in the third, with a struggling Edwin Encarnacion lining to center with the bases loaded in the fifth. "I was able to throw strikes with all my pitches". "This is a huge win for us". Santana has lived up to the role of leadoff hitter just fine, walking in nearly 14 percent of his at-bats and, especially over the last week, getting on base well. The notable difference in this home run being that it was off a lefty, his first off a southpaw since he took John Danks yard in September 2015.

"He's good. He had our guys confused".

"Sometimes, winning is easier than other times", Francona said. "He doesn't beat himself". Joe Mauer followed with a bunt single up the third-base line that Clevinger threw into right field, allowing Grossman to score. "Sano is turning into a really good, unsafe hitter".

"It's tough to put the guys in a hole against a guy that's going as good as Santana is going", Tomlin said. Over their previous 19 innings, they had scored just two runs on seven hits and eight walks. That's the most by an Indians pitcher since Doug Jones pitched 20 consecutive scoreless innings to begin the 1990 season.

This was just the latest thing to go right for the Twins a year after everything went so terribly wrong in a 103-loss season.

Mike Clevinger could not evade the crooked number behind another dismal showing from a team that has mustered three or fewer runs in nine of their last 11 contests.

The right-hander was 3-0 and led the International League with a 1.13 ERA in six starts at Rochester. In six starts at Rochester Berrios was 3-0 and was leading the International League with a 1.33 ERA.

The home fans had little else to holler about as Cleveland was held to three hits for the second straight game by Minnesota.
