Arsenal salvaged some silverware from a traumatic season as they denied Chelsea the double with a 2-1 victory in an enthralling FA Cup final thanks to Aaron Ramsey's late victor on Saturday.

Wenger's contract expires at the end of the campaign, but he remains popular with Arsenal's players and Ramsey made it clear he wants his boss to extend his 21-year reign. His men gave him a peace of mind by securing his record seventh FA Cup final win.

Aaron Ramsey was the match-winner, just like in the 2014 final, restoring Arsenal's lead in the 79th minute shortly after Diego Costa leveled for 10-man Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

The Arsenal board will meet on Tuesday to discuss Arsène Wenger's future.

Antonio Conte said he hopes to stay at Chelsea "for many years" despite speculation that the Italian could be tempted by big-money offers back home.

The Blues headed in to the FA Cup Final as firm favourites, but they were second best for the entire game.

"I am convinced we were hurt by the uncertainty about my future with the players", Wenger said. "We know this team has suffered".

"I am very proud because nobody has done it". I feel this club has special values and we have shown that.

"It's very important to understand that this season for us was incredible".

"I love my job and I love to win".

"If Ramsey was not in an offside position, I could go out and touch the ball but I had to stop because he was there".

"I invite you one day to live with me and one thing you can not question is my commitment".

"We had outstanding performances, " Wenger said.

"Everybody knows the club I like". If you can not forgive, you can not trust.

"I think it was a handball even if it was maybe not deliberate". We play for the 99.9 per cent.

Speaking to the Sun Goals podcast, the Match of the Day pundit said, as quoted by the Sport Review: "I'm not having it". But like so many times this season, Alexis Sanchez was one of the stand out players at Wembley yesterday.

After a torrid run of form at the start of spring, Wenger opted to alter his tactics and set his side out with a three-man defence. Captain Del Piero bid farewell to the club.
