Colangelo chose not to disclose a name, but Fultz is the consensus No. 1 pick of the draft.

On top of its No. 3 overall pick, Philadelphia is also sending the 2018 first-round?pick it owns via the Los Angeles Lakers, which the Sixers acquired from Phoenix at the 2015 trade deadline. If everything works out in Boston's favor, the Celtics will end up with the first AND second selections in the 2018 draft.

"You want well-rounded players that fit what you're doing", Colangelo said. The 76ers could package some of those packs with an existing player - such as center Jahlil Okafor - to get another first-round selection.

With the recent deal between the 76ers and the Celtics, acoording to Jon Wolfond, Ainge said "the phones have been ringing" since.

The trade for Fultz has the Philadelphia 76ers ready to make a run, however, it will be Simmons who will be the one leading the charge.

Adding Hayward could potentially be the start of something special for the Celtics.

Boston president of basketball operations Danny Ainge took a risk. The Celtics had Duke's Jayson Tatum in for a workout on Monday and hope to have Kansas' Josh Jackson in on Tuesday. "I am not afraid of that", Ainge said, per Scott Souza of the Providence Journal. I like both of those kids. When I played him, I thought he could do everything offensively.

So the way he looks at it, the deal is a win-win. If the Lakers are as bad as they were this year, the Celtics could draft in the top three for a third consecutive year.

Don't be surprised if Ainge makes more moves this week. "They have a lot of future assets, and we're going to get a player that we like in addition to some further assets".

"We are very, very excited about what we've been able to accomplish the last few days getting this trade done with Philadelphia", Ainge said. "But the order they are going to be in, nobody knows". We watched the same Finals that everybody did. As of now, there's nothing on the table, but Boston is open to the possibility if the deal is right. Fultz is projected to go to the Sixers with the first pick and Ball is projected to go to the Lakers - the only team he has worked out for - as the second pick. It was agreed to in principle at that point, with the last holdup being the customary league approval on the terms - which came Monday.

It's been two-plus decades since a team with the No. 1 pick traded it before the draft. If it does not, the Celtics will instead receive either Sacramento's or Philadelphia's first-round pick in 2019, whichever is more favorable. Both superstars could be just what the Celtics need to be a real contender to win an National Basketball Association title.

The 6-foot-4 Fultz. who has a wingspan of 6-9 3/4, averaged 23.2 points, 5.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds and shot 41.3 percent from 3-pointers during his only collegiate season.

Sixers big man Joel Embiid tweeted a photo of himself with Fultz, Simmons and Robert Covington along with the caption: "This should be legendary if it happens". The 2017 NBA Draft takes place on Thursday at 7PM ET and will air live on ESPN.
