Joachim Low has warned his Germany team that Cameroon represent risky opposition as they look to secure their place in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup.

The RB Leipzig striker made the points safe nine minutes from time after Vincent Aboubakar briefly gave Cameroon hope, sealing top spot in the group and a semi-final against Mexico.

Colombian referee Wilmar Roldan showed Sebastien Siani the red card at first, before his error was rectified and Mabouka received his marching orders instead after intervention from the VAR.

But the video assistant referee system was again thrust into the spotlight when Cameroon defender Ernest Mabouka was sent off just past the hour for a unsafe tackle on Liverpool's Emre Can.

"I didn't understand it and I still don't understand it now", fumed Cameroon's Belgian coach Hugo Broos.

"I think everyone is confused, also me, I didn't know what was happening, I didn't understand it and I still don't understand it now".

Today at 4 pm CET, Cameroon faces Germany in the last game of the group stage of the Confederations Cup and will attempt to pull off a qualification which seems very hard.

Andre Schurrle came off the bench to score twice in the second half and five days later he provided the cross for the goal which won Germany the 2014 World Cup.

"I spoke to Emre Can, he said there was contact but didn't feel it was a foul", said Loew.

"Maybe it can be fine-tuned so that decisions are made a bit quicker".

"I believe the red card contributed", said Werner.

Germany need just a point from the encounter in Sochi, but Cameroon are still alive too and can advance if they win by two clear goals.

"When you see how fast they play, what pace they have in their players in attack".

"I have to thank all of them because thanks to their achievements, to their commitment, their passion and their excellent attitude, they allowed us to notch up so many victories, to chalk up so much success for the national side".

"They were a small fish in their continent for a while and they chose to change that and we're trying to change that ourselves as well".

"If we do qualify for the World Cup next year, we are going to have to start thinking about solving this problem for the future".

Veteran forward Tim Cahill collected his 100th global cap at Spartak Stadium, joining long-serving former goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer (109) as the only other Australia player to reach the landmark.

"This match was at the level of a World Cup quarter-final", Chile coach Juan Antonio Pizzi said.

"The goal we conceded was a soft one but we are still learning".
