Ronaldo, who is now playing for Portugal in the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation, scored five goals over two legs as eventual winners Madrid dumped Bayern out of the Champions League at the quarterfinal stage in April.

Manchester United and Paris Saint-German have both been mentioned as potential destinations in the event of the superstar leaving Madrid, while the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport said Bayern were in the mix.

Ronaldo is expected to become the subject of a big summer auction after it last week emerged he wants to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.

But Bayern have taken the unsusual step of issuing a statement to deny they are interested in the the player.

The rumor that Ronaldo could move to Bayern, there is no reason.

The star Portuguese striker due to allegations of tax evasion in the amount of 14.7 million euros to the closing of the summer transfer window plans to leave "real" and to leave Spain.

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has dismissed reports linking Cristiano Ronaldo with the Bundesliga champions as "completely unfounded", while suggesting the rumours "must be consigned to the realms of fantasy".

Mark Lovell covers Bayern Munich for ESPN FC. Digital technology means news is spread with great speed, but sometimes stories come out that are simply not true.

"We are accustomed to speculating intensively on possible inflows and outflows during the transfer period. But now, in the case of Cristiano Ronaldo, we want to clarify once and for all that this rumour has no basis and must be referred to the realm of the fable".
