In the wake of David Griffin's departure as Cleveland Cavaliers general manager, the Cavs are meeting with Chauncey Billups for the second time. His ties to owner Dan Gilbert go back over a decade to when Billups was a Detroit Piston doing ads for Gilbert's Rock Financial, and he also maintains a close relationship with coach Tyronn Lue.

"According to a Cleveland source close to the situation, several of the Cavaliers who had been prodding Butler to push for a trade from the Bulls the last five days were now warning him to stay away from a suddenly volatile situation", Chicago Sun-Times reporter Joe Cowley wrote on Tuesday.

When the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Golden State Warriors in the National Basketball Association finals, casual fans wondered what piece Cleveland could add to be able to dethrone the champions next year.

LeBron James, pictured at the press conference after Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals at ORACLE Arena on June 12, 2017 in Oakland, California, isn't happy with the Cleveland Cavaliers' first move of the offseason.

LeBron completed his mission, leading the Cavs to three straight National Basketball Association finals and one championship, but he's all but gone after this season. However, Irving may become the main star there, as Butler has been reportedly pushing for a trade to get himself onto the Cavs' roster.

Hornets: Coach says Howard can return to All-Star level CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte coach Steve Clifford is confident he can help newly acquired Hornets center Dwight Howard become a dominant force and an NBA All-Star again.

No one else knows that, though, including the Cavs. I know his game. It meant taking on Howard's contract, which will pay him $47 million over the next two seasons. "But a year ago, in the last 25 games, it was easier". He also recently interviewed with the Atlanta Hawks.

"For three years when people looked on the schedule and saw we're playing Charlotte on Wednesday it was like, 'Oh man that's not going to be easy, '" Clifford said.
