Shah arrived here on Friday, a much-anticipated three-day visit to Mumbai, the highlight of which will be a meeting with ally Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday morning. Mr Paswan said, his party stands by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision. However, Shah made it clear that both the names suggested by the Sena, that of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and agriculture scientist MS Swaminathan weren't in the reckoning. Thackeray, however, insisted on knowing the name.Besides Thackeray and Shah, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP Maharashtra chief Raosaheb Danve and Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray also attended the meeting, which went on for an hour-and-a-half.

"Uddhavji will recommend his name to Amit Shah when he calls on him at "Matoshree" (Thackeray's residence) on Sunday", Raut had said.

The BJP president then left for Shivaji Park to offer floral tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, Veer Savarkar and Bal Thackeray.

Only last week, the Sena had announced that it could take an independent line on presidential elections, creating a flutter in the BJP. Shah urged Sena to offer support to presidential candidate.

Mumbai: BJP president Amit Shah today ruled out resumption of bilateral cricket ties between India and Pakistan anytime soon, saying the two countries would continue to play against each other in worldwide tournaments. He was referring to the constant talk by Shiv Sena to withdraw support, which has not come true till now. "Shah took the view that despite differences, we have to take all our NDA partners along", the BJP member said. BJP sources said the two leaders agreed to put the recent bitterness behind them and work together.

The Sena chief said he offered prayers on Thursday at the Gajanan Maharaj Temple in Pune to give strength to the government to implement its promise of farm loans waiver.

Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, Shah recently said the BJP was ready for mid-term polls in Maharashtra.

The BJP was forced to form a panel for parleys with the opposition as Sonia constituted a sub-group of the opposition parties for the presidential election to create troubled waters for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the country's coveted post.
