"The 737 MAX family of airplanes is the flawless combination of single-aisle aircraft for the Lion Air Group, with their new level fuel-efficiency as well as range and capacity capabilities", said Lion Air Group president Edward Sirait.

In Paris, CDB signed a memorandum of understanding for 42 MAX 8s, 10 MAX 10s and eight 787-9 Dreamliners. Other alterations to earlier versions include a variable exit limit rating mid-exit door, a lighter, flat aft pressure bulkhead and a modified wing for low-speed drag reduction. "We are proud to be here to deliver this message with Boeing and are convinced that the 737 MAX will provide us with a stronger competitive edge to contribute to our existing and future airline clients as an operating lessor".

The biggest 737 variant is set to get more than 240 orders from at least 10 different airlines, Boeing said at the launch announcement yesterday. These services agreements represented the largest commercial services order in Boeing history.

SpiceJet, which operates a fleet of 35 Boeing 737s and 20 Bombardier Q400s, agreed in January to acquire 100 new MAX 737 aircraft as part of its expansion plans in the world's fastest growing aviation market.

Okay, which has its headquarters in Beijing and operates its main hub in Tianjin, now operates an all-Boeing fleet comprised of 17 737-800s, four 737-900ERs and one 737-300 freighter.

The carrier will be taking the first delivery of the first 737 in 2018.

The last event in 2015 brought orders for 421 planes worth $57 billion (51 billion euros) for Airbus and orders for 331 planes worth $50 billion (44.6 billion euros) for Boeing. The South American airline startup is set to order about 30 recently-upgraded A320neo jets and 15 current-generation models, known as A320ceo, from Airbus, two industry sources told Reuters.

An increase in takeoff weight of about 3 tons plus tweaks to the cabin design make it possible to add up 80 more seats, to 575 total, while maintaining the current range of 8,200 nm. Depending on the airline's requirements, it will be able to carry between 330 and 440 passengers. The aim is the highest passenger comfort in the single-aisle market, with key features including the Boeing Sky Interior.
