The entire 737 MAX family has been created to offer customers exceptional performance, flexibility and efficiency, with lower per-seat costs and an extended range that will open up new destinations in the single-aisle market.

The plane will also get taller landing gear to help resolve balance and tail-skid issues that cropped up with the 737-900ER, Keith Leverkuhn, general manager of the Max program, said in an interview at the show site at Le Bourget Airport on Sunday.

Boeing has had about 3,700 orders for the 737 Max family, which ranges from the 172-seat Max 7 to the 220-seat Max 9.

"We think the 737 MAX 10 is a competitor to the (MAX) 9 and that's why a lot of people are converting", said Airbus sales chief John Leahy. But it would only be put into production if it received "a large order", he said, without elaborating.

A Memorandum Understanding (MoU), valued at United States dollars 4.7 billion at current list prices, was signed at the Paris Air Show, which commenced on Monday (19 June).

The order is split evenly between 20 new orders for the 737 MAX 10 and conversions of 20 of the low-priced carrier's 737 MAX 8 airplanes from its existing order to 737 MAX 10s.

"With the introduction of our 737 MAXs next year, we will be able to further expand our network, while keeping our costs low for our customers", Singh said.

Twenty of SpiceJet's provisional order for 40 MAX 10s were conversions from an existing order for other 737 models.

For its part, Airbus announced orders for over 100 planes in its A320neo family, including at least a dozen of the latest A321neo model, worth over USD11.5 billion.

SpiceJet now has a fleet of 55 planes, comprising 35 Boeing B 737s 20 Bombardier Q400s. Its first large passenger jet, the C919, took its maiden flight last month, and is competing for market share with the A320 and 737 ranges.

The carrier plans to grow its operational fleet to 200 planes by the end of the decade and looks to expand regionally with the new 737 MAX family of aircraft, the release added.

Three cabinet ministers are in the French capital this week to promote Canada's aerospace sector and meet with various companies at the prestigious Paris Air Show. The agreement, valued at US$8.1 billion at list prices, makes AerCap the largest customer for the 787 Dreamliner.

"We are continuing to see strong energy in the marketplace", said Muilenberg, predicting that new orders should roughly match deliveries this year. "This strengthens our ambition to satisfy our customers' demand for an aircraft they truly value due to its economics, operating efficiencies and high levels of in-cabin comfort and innovation".

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), valued at Dollars 4.7 billion at current list prices, was signed at the Paris Air Show, which commenced on Monday (19 June). Tourism group TUI AG converted 18 orders to the new plane.

"As a lessor, we are committed to provide our global customer base with technologically-advanced aircraft", said Ahmad Alzabin, chief executive officer and vice-chairman, ALAFCO.
