Celtics Draft Rumors: Why Kansas Forward Josh Jackson Won't Workout For Boston

Markelle Fultz is expected to become the number one pick in Thursday's NBA Draft after the Philadelphia 76ers swung a deal for the top choice after watching his private workout. Years from now he could be ripped apart for passing on Washington guard Markelle Fultz, but he could also be praised depending on what else results from the blockbuster deal between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers.

"You want well-rounded players that fit what you're doing", Colangelo said. He has a decent pull up jumper and has a good 3 pointer, but those are things in his game teams might want him to improve in.

Dwight Howard was dealt and D'Angelo Russell — who just two years ago was on the same stage the players will walk Thursday as the No. 2 pick — was dealt by the Los Angeles Lakers, presumably to clear the point guard spot for Ball and salary cap space for the future. "To see what's going on right now is something we've experienced over the last, really, four years that started with the most loyal fans, with season-ticket holders".

"This, I think, has a chance to be a historic draft", Minnesota Timberwolves general manager Scott Layden said. So, I'd say that if history is to repeat itself the Celtics are in pretty good shape. "He can score in any way, I don't think anybody can stop him, honestly".

In order to account for some extreme outliers, here is a look at the median career Win Shares at each pick in the first round. The Celtics move down to number three and also land a "favorably-protected" future first round pick. When Ainge made these comments, and they were coupled with the aforementioned report, the consensus was that the Celtics were eyeing Jackson at third overall. Who knows, my Lakers may shock us all taking Duke's Jason Tatum at No. 2!

This was a very surprising trade for the Lakers, as they seemed very hesitant to move any part of their young core.

A draft that the 76ers would eventually enjoy the luxury of having the No. 1 pick, something they were not able to do for 20 years since the drafting of Allen Iverson.

Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley (0) on the court against the Cleveland Cavaliers during the third quarter in game two of the Eastern conference finals of the NBA Playoffs at TD Garden. It was agreed to in principle at that point, with the last holdup being the customary league approval on the terms - which came Monday. If it doesn't, the Sixers will instead send a 2019 first round pick to Boston (via Sacramento).

"This is certainly a trade that is under the microscope more than other trades, but we're not afraid of that".

With Thomas, the Celtics didnt necessarily need a point guard — which is the piece Philadelphia apparently wanted most.

Fultz averaged 23.2 points, 5.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds and shot 41.3 percent from 3-point range during his collegiate season. Fultz, who went to high school in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, led the Pac-12 in scoring and finished No. 6 among all Division I players. He was the top freshman scorer in the country.

With the news that 2017's college standout Fultz will be plying his trade in Philly next season, the 76ers find themselves with a "Big-3" of their own as Fultz, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid look to create a dynasty.
