David Silva wants to play the rest of his footballing career at Manchester City, but admits the challenges of the Premier League could make it a hard goal to achieve.

The Manchester City ace has been one of the most outstanding players in the Premier League since joining from Valencia in a £26million deal in 2010.

Speaking to English newspaper Daily Mail on his island home off the coast of North Africa, the 31-year-old claimed life on the beach would beckon should he fill the void in his collection of major honours.

"I'm very happy to be at City and I would like to continue there for as long as possible", he said.

But with City having already brought in Bernardo Silva and Ederson Moraes this summer, the midfielder is confident they can mount a title challenge next season. If I win the Champions League I'm retiring back here [Gran Canaria].

"Since I was a regular in the team, this hasn't been the best year because we haven't won any trophies but we're sure that next year it's going to be better", he said.

It has been reported that the cultured midfielder has attracted interest from a number of teams in the Premier League, by the latest report suggests that Pep Guardiola's men are leading the way in the fight for his signature.

A Premier League, FA Cup, European Championship and World Cup victor, the Spain global playmaker is yet to capture the biggest prize in European club football.

The Spain global is known to be a fitness fanatic and looks after himself, and as last season showed he is still one of the Premier League's best midfielders at the age of 31.
