Dwyane Wade posts reaction to Jimmy Butler trade from Paris

The Wolves have been trying to get Butler ever since Thibodeau stepped in as the team's general manager and head coach. Shut the hell up! Rather, he simply wants to be "just a player for the Timberwolves".

And they got it late Thursday, receiving guards Zach LaVine (22) and Kris Dunn (23) from Minnesota and adding Arizona 7-footer Lauri Markkanen from Finland as the Timberwolves' No. 7 pick.

At 27, Butler is in his prime as a player. Losing Butler, who has been nothing but top-notch on and off the court, is hard. The deal could not quite be completed and Butler went through a frustrating season with the Bulls, who brought in Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo in hopes of squeezing some more immediate success out of the group. Karl-Anthony Towns is a top 20 National Basketball Association player now, Andrew Wiggins is good, and the team has quality role players everywhere. LaVine averaged 18.9 points last season. Markkanen will add a 3-point threat to a team that was 28th in the league in 3-point shooting percentage.

If you have questions about Dunn, you should. Or, what there is comes off as rose-colored visions of things, where what players want is honesty. Nobody can say for sure.

LaVine, who suffered a torn ACL last season, was a rising star last season before his injury. Scary stuff, all of it, but it can't be emphasized enough: This should be scary. You've embraced me like a son and pushed me to get better every day, every season. His numbers were empty calories.

In a 12-way tie, the Bulls were 100-to-1 to win the title, even before Butler was sent packing. "We were looking at all the possibilities".

When asked about LaVar's comment, Lakers coach Luke Walton smiled. Apparently, many of you disagree with that assessment because you kept buying tickets. They have not gone young. Too many people in the building found him hard to work with, and he found too many people inside the franchise lacking in basketball acumen.

Ultimately, this feels like the kind of return a team could expect when trading a centerpiece player in his final year under contract.

Maybe Hoiberg finally will get to see his offense run the way it was meant to be run - "run" being the operative word.

The Wolves were everyone's sleeper pick to be the surprise team in the West last season. Here is what he told Joe Crowly of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Veteran NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical at Yahoo Sports reported the Bulls-Wolves blockbuster trade in the early minutes of the 2017 NBA Draft. LaVine is much more of a known quantity than Trubisky is, but it's still stunning that an organization known for doing nothing when something, anything was required would pull off such a big move. That we can expect a smoother relationship between Butler and team administration also bodes well for Butler carrying out Thibodeau's plans and demanding the right sorts of contributions of his teammates. The column's basis was the Bulls' inertia over the last decade or so.

Turns out something was bull, but it wasn't the Butler discussion or the Bulls' resolve.
