Golden State Warriors win Game 2 of NBA Finals over Cleveland Cavaliers

"They're just going to muck the game up and be physical".

If you only saw the final result of Game One of this year's National Basketball Association finals, 113-91, you might think that the Golden State Warriors were comfortably the better team as they look to avenge last year's loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Kerr is back coaching the Golden State Warriors after more than six weeks, feeling well enough that he plans to coach the remainder of the NBA Finals. "Some good things going on but we've got to get better".

"They give (Durant) a lot of space and a lot of room to operate..." Interim head coach Mike Brown helped guide the Warriors to a 13-0 playoff run and coached the team to an NBA Finals Game 1 win against his twice-former employer the Cleveland Cavaliers. "It doesn't make a difference what jersey you wear".

Cavaliers small forward James, 32, made 29 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists to draw level with Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson on eight post-season triple-doubles.

Now, Golden State is headed to Northeast Ohio needing just two more - yet don't count on anybody considering this series close to done. An interesting historical anecdote.

Those moments - which will be remembered long after shooting percentages and points per possession and pick-and-roll success and failure are forgotten - turned Golden State's 132-113 win over Cleveland on Sunday night into a treasure trove of sequences to be appreciated. "We did a poor job of taking care of the basketball and they were able to get out in transition and get easy baskets". An off-balance KD flicked the ball up while falling backward and being fouled by Love and got a lucky bounce for a three-point play 7:04 before halftime just after Love had hit a 3 on the other end.

After a disappointing loss in game one, the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to rebound and even the series before heading home to Cleveland. "I think that having awareness, can't relax, can't fall asleep. So you take your hat off to him".

A 3-pointer by Kyrie Irving kept the Cavaliers within 108-97 with 8:41 to go before Thompson, who shot 3-for-16 in Game 1, ignited the game-breaking run with a 3-pointer.

This isn't completely effort thing, it's just personnel - Kyle Korver can't guard anyone, and Lue tried to go with Channing Frye but has given up on that experiment. Love nailed Durant with a few rugged shoulders to the chest but couldn't move him much. Tristan Thompson has been very quiet as well.

Curry and Thompson, who finished with 22 points, also connected on four 3-pointers apiece for Golden State, which shot 51.7 percent overall. "I thought Klay, he guards so many people out there and he has such a responsibility with Kyrie and switching onto LeBron, and I thought he was fantastic". At the other end, Cleveland's first eight points were in the paint. It's tough to stop the Warriors. Stephen Curry is 14 for 14 from the line and has 27 points, nine assists and nine rebounds, Kevin Durant has 24 points and the Warriors lead Cleveland 102-88 going into the fourth quarter. Curry's 10 first-quarter free throws matched a playoff record for made shots from the stripe in one period shared with Sarunas Marciulionis, done on April 28, 1992, at Seattle.

"The intention is to coach the rest of the series", Kerr told the media. The lead was back up to 12 by the Warriors within a couple of minutes (and Channing Frye got rejected at the rim twice in that stretch). As a senior at Michigan State, he was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and is one of three Spartans to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds with the program. There was no settling in with James in the first half or any settling for that matter.
