Iowa, ISU football times announced

Early season start times were announced by ESPN and FOX on Wednesday.

The kickoff will be at 3 p.m. instead of the usual late-morning start the series has had.

Iowa State will open the 2017 season under the lights, playing host to UNI on September 2 at 7 p.m. will carry the game.

The annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game at Iowa State on September 9, will kickoff at 11 Ames, with that contest airing on ESPN or ESPN2. CBS Sports Network will carry the game beginning at 11 a.m.

Iowa's nine other games, including its season-opener at home against Wyoming, do not have scheduled starting times. Iowa holds a 42-22 overall series advantage. Iowa also defeated the Cornhuskers 40-10 in Iowa City last season to maintain possession of the Heroes Trophy. The Hawkeyes won by a 62-16 margin in 2015, in the only previous meetings between the two programs. In addition to IL, the Hawkeyes host Big Ten opponents Penn State (Sept. 23), Minnesota (Oct. 28), Ohio State (Nov. 4), and Purdue (Nov. 18) as the home slate features five Big Ten opponents.

ESPN will help usher in the 2017 college football season on Thursday, Aug. 31 with a 7 p.m. telecast of Ohio State at Indiana. Both Wyoming and North Texas competed in bowl games to conclude their seasons.
