Josh Jackson likes idea of playing with Jaylen Brown

In his one season at Duke under Mike Krzyzewski, Tatum showcased a complete and versatile offensive arsenal that will nearly surely translate to the next level in Boston. He was one of five finalists for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award. "Here's a guy that's very good, but he's committed to being better". He never a real consideration. With Brown already in place, and the Celtics not infatuated with any player in this draft, why not trade that third pick for a proven commodity?

- Kristaps Porzingis. Wow, he could've been fun. At least I had a ball with the Porzingis talk on Twitter yesterday.

What does Tatum bring to the Celtics?

Well, he's not a guard - which is what the top four or five guys in this draft were.

During his time at Washington, which was one season, Fultz averaged 23.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists in the 25 games he played.

Nobody is ideal, but Tatum seems like a pretty smart kid and he should fit in just fine in Boston. His mid-range shooting range, considered "old-school", is probably the best of the big-time players.

Of course, any road to the NBA Finals in the Eastern Conference will go through three-time NBA champion LeBron James, and Tatum's youth and inexperience could be exposed in a hurry against the King.

It was the second straight year the Celtics have chosen third overall.

But Tatum is used to high expectations after a season at Duke, and the opportunity to play under one of the brightest young minds in basketball will be well worth it. He's skinny and not very strong.

Chicago had approach the Sixers offering Butler for the No. 3 pick in this week's draft, before Philly shipped that pick to Boston. If his 3-point shot improves, which it should under Brad Stevens, he should be a starter on the 2018-19 Celtics.

Tatum said he appreciated the faith Boston showed in taking him. "I think that, in this kind of position-less league, those guys are really valuable", said Stevens.

He says all the right things, he's from the right school, he's been coached the right way, he's been raised the right way, he has the right body frame for today's wing-dominated National Basketball Association, where versatility is the name of the game.
