A man went on a shooting spree after a domestic incident in Lincoln County in MS, killing eight people at three different locations, local officials say.

The shootings took place in three separate locations in Lincoln County, south MS, reported BBC.

Authorities haven't yet identified any of the other victims, but Godbolt's step-father, who witnessed the shooting, told the Associated Press they included his wife, Barbara Mitchell, her daughter, Toccarra May, and sister, Brenda May.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said charges against Godbolt have not yet been filed, as it is too early to determine a motive. According to reports, a sheriff's deputy and seven other people were shot dead overnight in Bogue Chitto, an unincorporated area of southern Mississippi.

Video of Godbolt minutes after his arrest posted online by the Clarion-Ledger newspaper showed him in handcuffs sitting in a road, surrounded by officers.

Durr responded to the house in a domestic disturbance call where Godbolt and his estranged wife were talking about their children in the home of his stepfather-in-law, Vincent Mitchell.

"Then somebody called the officer, people that didn't even live at the house". That's what they do.

'They cost him his life.

Godbolt said he hadn't planned to be captured alive.

A witness says a MS man had been arguing with his estranged wife about their children when he opened fire inside his in-laws' home after a sheriff's deputy arrived.

"I ask all Mississippians to join Deborah and me in praying for those lost in Lincoln County", Bryant said. "He was just there", he said. He said he was "sorry" and "ain't fit to live, not after what I done". The bodies of two boys were found at another crime scene in Brookhaven.

Investigators stand outside a Brookhaven, Miss., home Sunday, May 28, 2017, where several people were killed during shootings Saturday at multiple locations in rural Lincoln County.

William Durr, 36, was responding to a domestic-violence call late Saturday when he was shot to death in Brookhaven, a south MS city surrounded by pine trees and rolling green pastures. Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing said Durr was married and had an 11-year-old son.

MS governor Phil Bryant called the incident a "senseless tragedy".

"Every day, the men and women who wear the badge make some measure of sacrifice to protect and serve their communities", his statement said. May the peace of the Almighty wash over those hurting after this senseless tragedy'. "But God, you know, he forgives you for everything".
