The blustery brawler is bringing his icy powers to the realm of Injustice 2 to stop Captain Cold dead in his tracks, and game director Ed Boon has taken to Twitter to announce when you can finally play as Sub-Zero. Everyone else will get the chance to purchase the Lin Kuei's Grandmaster on July 18.

Netherrealm Studio have also teased that Raiden may make an appearance in a later DLC pack, having been spotted as silhouette in the character roster lineup. The three characters in the game's first package include the Red Hood, Sub-Zero, and Starfire.

Sub-Zero's description in Injustice 2 details a bit of history about the warrior. Mortal Kombat mainstay Sub-Zero will be playable in the superhero fighting game in July.

It's a pretty ominous statement that fans should be getting excited about, especially as Sub-Zero is the first crossover character from Mortal Kombat to be making his debut in Injustice 2. When Sub-Zero was younger, the Lin Kuei were corrupted and destroyed from within, staining their honor.

"Jim Lee is one of the co-publishers at DC and he's also an wonderful artist, so we just wanted to go full circle with that and have a DC Comics representation of a Mortal Kombat character", Boon revealed during E3. He retains his ice projectile and signature slide.

Sub-Zero, the ninja specialized in glacial attacks, will be fighting DC heroes on July 11.

Injustice 2's next character is just a few weeks away.

In case you missed it, you can check out the previously released trailer for Sub-Zero above. Ed Boon has plans to release additional characters, Starfire being next to emerge from the shadows and join the Injustice 2 roster. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
