Shortly after the Lakers selected Lonzo Ball with the second pick in the 2017 National Basketball Association draft, 2016 No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons tweeted "crazy pills", seemingly in reference to LaVar Ball's interview with ESPN.

Minutes after the Lakers made his oft-stated prediction come true by drafting his son, LaVar Ball told ESPN that he had spent his 19-year-old son's entire life talking about his destiny of playing for that team, and he claimed that Lonzo would "take the Lakers to the playoffs his first year".

When asked about LaVar's comment, Lakers coach Luke Walton smiled. The move is going to be made official tonight.

Orlando has some talent in the lineup - Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier, Terrence Ross - but the Magic have lacked a point guard who can pull it all together, and Ball would change that.

Lonzo Ball and his dad are staying home with the Los Angeles Lakers. Ball drew praise for controlling an up-tempo and excelling as a passer. It's exciting to think about Ball can accomplish with a legend like Johnson training him.

Ball can also create shots for himself off the dribble with his impressive crossover and is also lethal out of the pick and roll which he has displayed multiple times at the college level.

The Los Angeles Lakers landed their first-choice player from this year's National Basketball Association draft class as highly-rated college prospect Lonzo Ball joined his hometown franchise.

There are six teams that entered the 2017 NBA Draft without a first round pick. With this approach, the Lakers may lose out on a future superstar yet they will make up for it by building depth. "The great ones all have it, and we hope that by the way he plays, everyone else on our team becomes better".

The Lakers have been trying to acquire Paul George from the Indiana Pacers, and those two selections could be a part of the deal. He's a world-class playmaker, finding teammates with passes that would leave Jason Kidd wondering "how did he even see that?"
