Croatia's Marin Cilic in action during his third-round match against Spain's Feliciano Lopez at the 2017 French Open in Paris June 3, 2017.

Marin Cilic avoided becoming the latest seeded player to depart early at Queen's by beating Stefan Kozlov 6-0, 6-4 Thursday and advancing to the quarterfinals at the Wimbledon warm-up event.

Cilic is the tournament favourite following the exits of top seed and five-time victor Andy Murray, Swiss world No 3 Stan Wawrinka and 2016 Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic. Fifth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is also out. He lost only 10 points in the first set and was not forced to confront a break point against his 19-year-old opponent.

"At a tournament like this, we have so many great grass-court players", Cilic said of the slew of upsets so far at Queen's.

New tournament favourite Cilic, who beat John Isner in round one, will now take aim at his third American in a row in the quarter-finals when he takes on unseeded Donald Young.
