Markelle Fultz Considered Signing With Big Baller Brand Before Nike Deal

Markelle Fultz looks set to go as the No. 1 pick when Philadelphia makes its selection at Thursday's National Basketball Association draft - something he's wanted to achieve directly in competition with Lonzo Ball.

In fact, Fultz was even considering signing with LaVar Ball's Big Baller Brand, according to a report by the Washington Post.

Williams: I don't think they've got money to sign nobody.

"I was thinking about it, but then I would make [LaVar Ball] money, though", Fultz said.

Williams: You sure you don't want to sign with them?

Williams: Or lose them more money.

Can you imagine if this had happened? Ball has only worked out for the Lakers, while Fultz has made a few different visits throughout the pre-draft process, but he's going to the Sixers now anyway.

As mentioned by Fultz's trainer in the piece, it's unlikely that Big Baller Brand actually has the capital to pay anyone, and it certainly doesn't have the capital to offer the kind of deal that Nike likely did. They could always potentially offer equity, but it's hard to compete with a company like Nike. He mainly wanted to throw out a joke about making money for LaVar and Lonzo.
