Well, it didn't take long for the reports to come out saying the Red Devils are going to pursue the Portuguese forward if he leaves Real Madrid.

With Antoine Griezmann no longer an option because of Atlético Madrid's transfer ban, Álvaro Morata became Manchester United's primary attacking target this summer as they look to replace Zlatan Ibrahimović.

According to Italian publication Tuttosport (via the Daily Mail), United are preparing to offer Real Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea plus a huge cash sum of £183 million for Ronaldo and Morata. "To this date, neither the Spanish tax authorities, nor the public prosecutor have contacted Jose Mourinho or his advisers who were hired for the inspection process", the statement from Gestifute Media read.

"The Spanish Government in turn, through the Tax Department, issued a certificate in which it attested that he had regularised his position and was in compliance with all his tax obligations".

Four-time Ballon d'Or victor Ronaldo is accused of diverting €150m of advertising revenue and image rights through a shell company in the British Virgin Islands, a tax haven. A judge will then decide if they are grounds to charge him with a crime.

The accusations against Ronaldo have caused speculation in Portugal and Spain that he is considering leaving the country to play elsewhere.

A statement from the Attorney General's Office confirmed to Press Association Sport that the Madrid Prosecutor's Office had lodged the papers, relating to 2011 and 2012, with the municipal court.

These include Barcelona star Lionel Messi and his father Jorge, who were both handed 21-month jail terms for a €4.1 million.

The prosecutor's office in Madrid filed a lawsuit against the 32-year-old footballer, who is accused of using a "business structure" to hide income made from his image rights.
