Alexis Sanchez is on the brink of signing for Manchester City, according to reports in Chile.

While Sanchez's future remains in doubt in north London, Wright - who scored 128 goals for Arsenal - joked on Twitter that his former club should demand Poland striker Lewandowski in return.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich were believed to be leading the chase for the 28-year-old Chilean worldwide, however it appears as though Manchester City have also entered the race.

The Arsenal forward is approaching the final 12 months of his contract and has so far refused all offers from the club to extend his deal.

The Gunners have maintained publically that Sanchez will be staying at the Emirates and would not be interested in selling him to a direct rival, but they may have to take Sanchez's feelings into account if he makes it clear he wants to go to City.

The news has been circulated by respected Chilean journalist Fernando Solabarrieta, as per the report, which is the biggest indication yet that a swoop might be happening as Pep Guardiola would undoubtedly love a player with the attributes that Sanchez has to lead the line for his side next season.
