A police officer was injured while trying to break up a melee Sunday evening at an upscale shopping mall in San Francisco, police said.

San Francisco police received multiple calls about 6:45 p.m. reporting fights at Westfield San Francisco Centre, police said.

Other videos show clashes between police and the public, as officers attempt to detain multiple suspects.

The Westfield Mall in San Fransisco was forced to close early on Sunday, June 25 after a riot caused a lockdown.

Cellphone videos recorded by bystanders at the scene and later shared on social media captured people running in panic and screaming inside the mall crammed with shoppers and dozens of responding police officers.

The officer's injuries were minor, authorities said. As officers attempted to stop the fighting, they were attacked and assaulted. According to police, some people resisted arrest and tried to run away.

Police said one juvenile was taken into custody; the person's age was not released.

The brawl occurred after the city's gay pride parade, and many people were in the area at the time.
