CHICAGO (AP) - The Baltimore Orioles have placed slugging first baseman Chris Davis on the 10-day disabled list because of a strained right oblique. His injury came in the third inning after the slugger hit a ball to the Sox warning track.

Davis is batting.226 with 14 homers and 26 RBIs this season. Davis hits the disabled list on a 2-for-19 skid with seven strikeouts over his previous seven games, with the last six resulting in losses for the Orioles.

DODGERS: Outfielder Yasiel Puig was suspended one game and fined by Major League Baseball for making an obscene gesture to Indians fans Tuesday night. He is hitting.247 with four homers and 16 RBIs.

The mercurial player said he "stooped" to the level of fans who he said were heckling him in the on-deck circle. Matt Davidson homered in his third straight game for the White Sox.

BRAVES: Third baseman Adonis Garcia is expected to miss about two months after having surgery Monday to fix ligament damage in his left ring finger.

Garcia, who was put on the DL on June 7, was injured while taking a swing.

The right-hander is scheduled to start Sunday at Toronto after being sidelined the last two months because of a strained right back muscle.
