Prada is selling a $185 paperclip. Excuse me, what?

Yep, that's a Prada paperclip.

The hella fancy paperclip, which is stocked at Barneys.com, is retailing at the price of $185, or approximately £140, and people are outraged at the cost of what they perceive to be an upmarket office supply. Boy do we have good news for you.

This time, the item inspiring the jokes is a $185 paper clip (£145, $244AU) - really a money clip shaped like a paper clip - from noted designer Prada. To Pradas' defense, the paper this tool is suppose to clip is money, not the random scraps of paper you have lying around.

"This thing better be able to hold my life together", said one person. Seems fair. If you're dropping that kind of money you want some utility.

The Prada paperclip measures 6.25cm by 2.25cm and is made in Italy. That's probably one point of difference to the ones you find at Warehouse Stationery.

It's a mere 6cm in length and the only distinguishing feature setting it apart from other paper clips is a small "Prada" logo embossed on the side.
