"I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director!"

"Mueller is now clearly the (tip) of the deep state spear aimed at destroying or at a minimum undermining and crippling the Trump presidency", Gingrich tweeted on Thursday.

The memo was issued the same day new reports revealed Vice President Mike Pence, who led the transition, had hired outside counsel to represent him in the various investigations.

Trump's tweet Friday reflected the first official confirmation that he is being investigated by the special counsel for the reasons he fired Comey last month.

Trump said that "nobody has been able to show any proof yet".

Pres. Trump says being investigated by "man who told me to fire the FBI Director!"

"That's undemocratic on its face and a blatant violation of the president's oath of office". Trump had viewed Sessions' recusal as unnecessary, even though Justice Department regulations made it nearly impossible to avoid.

Trump took to Twitter Friday morning to lash out at the months-long investigation into Russian Federation meddling.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that the investigators were looking into possible obstruction of justice. Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegation.

Mr. Kushner previously volunteered to share with Congress what he knows about Russia-related matters.

The office is being funded through "a permanent indefinite appropriation, not the Department of Justice's appropriation", according to Carr. The consensus conclusion was that Trump would be committing political suicide if he fired Mueller. In the White House the attacks appear to be confined to the president's tweets.

Any such step would face a steep hurdle as it would require approval by the US House of Representatives, which is controlled by Mr Trump's fellow Republicans.

At the behest of the Trump administration, Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy, a close Trump friend and adviser, floated the idea that Trump was considering firing Robert Mueller.

"As the deputy attorney general has said numerous times, if there comes a point when he needs to recuse, he will".

Trump's tweets came after the top lawyer for his transition team warned the organization's officials to preserve all records and other materials related to the Russian Federation probe.

A Trump's transition official confirmed the lawyer's internal order, which was sent on Thursday. Reports have alleged that Trump asked both men to publicly quash the credibility of the Russian Federation investigation. He could fire him directly, although that would draw the most ire; he could direct Rosenstein to fire him, but the deputy testified last week that he'd only fire the counsel for "good cause;" Trump could fire Rosenstein and see if his replacement will fire Mueller.

Trump again took to Twitter following the reports of Pence hiring a lawyer, suggesting Hillary Clinton should be the one under investigation.

Trump, other officials have long denied there was any coordination between his campaign and the Kremlin. Cohen has received a subpoena from one of the congressional committees looking into the Russian Federation issue.
