Putin Denies Ever Meeting With Trump

They took place just days before the highly anticipated appearance June 8 before a Senate committee of James Comey, who as FBI director was leading an investigation of the Russian Federation matter before Trump fired him early in May. President Putin said Russian Federation is operating on a "democratic path" and was put off to be asked about that subject. "There were no meetings", he said first. "When I saw this, my jaw dropped". It's become a centerpiece of the questions swirling around Trump and his campaign and possible ties to Russian Federation. But, I repeat, we don't even have to do that. Where would we get this information from?

He continued: "That's complete nonsense".

Trump, during the campaign, repeatedly denied Russian Federation was trying to tip the scales in his favor. He'll probably be asked about conversations with Trump about Russian election meddling and the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The pair met on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Peru in November, weeks after Trump's upset election win.

In his May 9 letter firing Comey, Trump said the former FBI director had informed him "on three separate occasions that I am not under investigation".

The Russian president said he had "no relationship whatsoever" with Trump. There's nothing to even talk about. All over the world?

Trump has offered contradictory accounts of his relationship with Putin over time but has also said the two never met. Putin said he had no knowledge of such a proposal. "You know, you're just very resourceful people there, well done, probably your lives there are boring", Putin said.

"No, I haven't... because if there had been something meaningful he would have made a report to the minister, and the minister would have made a report to me". "I have no idea", he said at one point, exhibiting an impressive lack of curiosity about what's happening within his own government. There weren't even any reports.... There's nothing to even talk about. I longed for one of the incredulous reactions 60 Minutes correspondents like Mike Wallace and Ed Bradley were famous for when an interview source told a whopper, saying "come on" with a look that told the viewer they weren't buying what they were just told. You create a sensation out of nothing, and out of this sensation, you turn it into a weapon of war against the current president. "You people over there ... good job".

The Trump administration has been engulfed in a growing controversy involving its ties with Russian Federation.

The Washington Post has reported that in a NY meeting in December with the Russian ambassador to Washington, Sergei Kislyak, the 36 year old Kushner suggested setting up a back channel of communications with Moscow. In it, the Kremlin chief was asked about the nature of his relationship with the retired U.S. Army general who is the subject of several investigations at home.
