Qatar's ties with Iran and Islamist groups

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has issued a directive to take into consideration the humanitarian situation of Saudi-Qatari mixed families in appreciation of the brotherly people of Qatar, an official source was quoted as saying by Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

During a media talk on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Kazakhstan, Sharif had stressed that Pakistan enjoys good relations with Saudi Arabia, Iran and Qatar, and will try its best to resolve the differences between the Arab countries.

Iran Air spokesman Shahrokh Noushabadi said: "So far five planes carrying vegetables have been sent to Qatar, each carrying around 90 tonnes of cargo, while another plane will be sent today".

Qatar's energy minister said on Sunday Doha remained committed to an oil output cut deal agreed by Opec and non-Opec producers last month.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia showed signals of easing tensions with Qatar on Sunday, after a week of a growing diplomatic row with Doha.

Qatar yesterday moved to avoid an escalation of the feud, telling citizens of its Gulf neighbours that they are welcome to stay.

Kuwait, which has retained ties with Qatar and has often acted as a mediator in regional disputes, said it wanted to resolve the dispute "within the unified Gulf house".

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt severed relations with Qatar on Monday, accusing it of supporting "extremists" and their arch-adversary Iran.

Mohammed Al Sada said in a statement: "Circumstances in the region shall not prevent the state of Qatar from honouring its worldwide commitment of cutting its oil production".

A statement said: "Qatar Petroleum... is conducting business as usual throughout all its upstream, midstream and downstream businesses and operations, and in all activities across all of QP's world class facilities".

"We will continue deliveries as long as there is demand".

Sergei Lavrov, the foreign minister, discussed Qatar with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a phone call Saturday.

A previous mediation effort by Kuwait in which the Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah shuttled between Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Doha, failed to achieve an immediate breakthrough.

A number of nations, including Iran's major rival Saudi Arabia, last week cut ties with Qatar, accusing it of funding terrorism, charges it denies.
