Unseeded Estonian Anett Kontaveit won her first career title on Sunday, defeating fellow un-seed Natalia Vikhlyantseva 6-2, 6-3 to win the Ricoh Open in 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.

Kontaveit won 18 of 27 second-serve return points and converted four of six break points to take the victory over first-time finalist Vikhlyantseva in 73 minutes. The 20-year-old 6-foot-1 Russian Vikhlyantseva was appearing in her first career final.

The 21-year-old Kontaveit, who had already reached one WTA final and beaten world number one Angelique Kerber this season, overcame a dip in concentration at the start of the second set to earn victory in just under an hour and a quarter. Kontaveit said after the match.

Natalia Vikhlyantseva played an aggressive tennis to beat the fifth seeded player Ana Konjuh 6-3 7-5, in a match where the Russian was always under control. "It's been fantastic for me, I had really tough matches and I'm so happy to be through them - to win the final, it's wonderful".
