The Golden State Warriors took control of the NBA Finals after seeing off reigning champions the Cleveland Cavaliers in game two.

Kevin Durant scored 33 points and Steph Curry added 32 - including a 14-for-14 effort at the foul line - to power Golden State to a 132-113 rout of Cleveland in Game 2 tonight at Oracle Arena.

"The talent on the floor in this series is just unbelievable", Warriors head coach Steve Kerr marvelled after returning to the bench for the first time in 11 games in these playoffs.

Game Three is in Cleveland on Wednesday (Thursday NZT).

Golden State leads the best-of-seven series 1-0.

Sometimes, a few plays symbolize a game.

Reserves Deron Williams and Kyle Korver who were picked up mid-season specifically for this moment, failed to trouble the scoreboard and will need to do more offensively if Cleveland is going to challenge the Warriors.

With the win, the Warriors set an National Basketball Association record for most consecutive playoff victories at 14. 'We're young, healthy, and playing a game we love'.

"Tomorrow I got to be better, play better and just be extra active", he said. But that's like the look that I see in him throughout this Finals.

“Im just trying to play possession by possession, ” Thompson said.

His play on Love, as he filled in at centre while Draymond Green was sitting with foul trouble, was proof that he's an element that the Cavs simply don't have an answer for. It portends what this series will become if the Cavs can't get more than two guys to play well simultaneously. It's the same thing that I've been doing for the last three years, but, unfortunately, I've had a couple of times during my coaching stint here where there's been interruptions, unfortunately. So, it's going to be a wrestling match down there, and you got to keep it going, make it tough for them and just try to wear them out, make them run a lot of pick-and-rolls and just take it to another level.

Kyrie Irving was off his game, and the Cavs finally had a bad night shooting the 3-pointer.

"I admire everything about Steve Nash", Durant said on the off-day before Game 2 of the National Basketball Association final. "And you are talking two of the greatest players that we got in this world locked in the way they are, that's why we're up 2-0". No other National Football League team has played in more than three Super Bowls or won more than two in that same span.

Now, as the series shifts to Cleveland for Games 3 and 4, the immediate focus will not be on whether the Cavaliers can come back and win a second straight championship but whether the Warriors can do what once seemed unthinkable: finish the postseason 16-0.

"Yeah", Kerr said. "They're not easily distracted". I'm feeling better, more back to where I was during the regular season. Sometimes it's hard when you've got a group as talented as us.

Not anymore. Thompson's Game 2 performance shouldn't be forgotten like his Game 1 defensive gem, which was forgotten due to his inability to knock down an open jumper. We feel like if we just go for singles and doubles, not swing the for fences every day. I said, 'Have fun.' It's supposed to be fun. He hadn't shot well in the Finals, well, ever, having been under 35 percent his past four Finals games dating to a year ago.

These playoffs have been boring, but Warriors-Cavs 3 will hopefully make up for it. "I think that having awareness, can't relax, can't fall asleep".
