Going toe-to-toe with one the American Leagues best pitchers says a lot, and Severino seems to be the Yankees, ace pitcher.

Every player in the Toronto starting lineup picked up a hit, all in the first five innings, the last time the Jays did that was on September 20, 2016 at Seattle.

Montgomery (3-4) allowed three hits and three walks over six innings. He also walked three batters and struck out one.

"But I am getting a few pitches to hit as of late and I haven't missed them", said the 2015 AL MVP who was activated from the DL last week.

The Blue Jays (27-29) were held to three hits and five walks by four Yankees pitchers.

Travis was hit on the wrist by a pitch in Sunday's game, forcing an early exit. "He has slowly turned into a pretty darn good starter".

Sanchez homered in consecutive at-bats against Marco Estrada (4-3), a solo drive in the second and a two-run shot in the fourth. Refsnyder stole second, advanced to third on a fly ball, and scored the game's first run on an Aaron Hicks double.

It was the fourth multihomer game of Sanchez's career.

"I thought Monty threw the ball really, really well", Gardner said.

When asked if he was the victim of some bad luck in the loss, Biagini quipped: "I'm not ready to play the victim card yet". He has 30 RBIs, one shy of his total past year.

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson, right, jokingly tags New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge after Yankees designated hitter Matt Holliday (not shown) lined out to end the first inning baseball action in Toronto on Saturday, June 3, 2017. Once again, he didn't get help defensively, as Starlin Castro "doubled" to left on a ball Darwin Barney midread, starting back, and couldn't recover on as it bounced in front of him. Jose Bautista flies out to left center field to Aaron Hicks.

"It's impressive", Girardi said.

"It's very satisfying to see all the work and everything that he's put in and him starting to have continued success", Donaldson said.

Donaldson restored some of the cushion with his second homer, off reliever Jonathan Holder in the bottom of the sixth. "We're going to need him to continue to do that if we want to get where we want to go to". There's a lot of guys in that lineup that had a tough April but they've kind of salvaged that. "I didn't locate it today".

"Seeing Smoak and how he's progressed this season from the first season we got him, to past year to now, it's very satisfying to see". This is a big win for Toronto, as they keep themselves within 5.5 games of first place, and are only game below.500 baseball. "He was really good today and we were able to scratch out a couple, then J.D. hit the one in the eighth".

"I don't hang anybody out to dry", said the manager. "That's never easy for a manager or a coach".

Joe Smith (2-0) pitched a ideal eighth for the win and Roberto Osuna struck out the side in the ninth to pick up his 13th save.

For Sunday's game, the Yankees will be rolling out RHP Luis Severino for the start. Giving up a solo homer to Donaldson is whatever. A single, Ryan Goins' fielding error, and a stolen base gave the Reds runners at second and third with one out, but Osuna preserved the win by striking out Billy Hamilton and Zack Cozart. The game tips off at 1:00 PM EST in Rogers Centre, Toronto, Ontario.

The three runs scored off Biagini early were largely the result of poor fielding by the home side, starting in the third inning when NY first baseman Rob Refsnyder got on because a fielding error by short stop Troy Tulowitzki and then stole second.
