You can't handle Alec Baldwin starring in NBC's live version of A Few Good Men.

Baldwin and Sorkin will serve as executive producers alongside Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who produced NBC's "Hairspray Live". "No stranger to live television, Alec is the most multi-faceted actor in the world and his range is incomparable".

Baldwin is taking the role of Col. Nathan Jessep in the Aaron Sorkin play.

In a statement, Sorkin said, "Alec is one of our greatest actors". Having him play this role - live onstage for a television audience - is a dream come true. "This will be a brand-new take on Nathan Jessup, and I expect that Alec is going to bust through TV screens and right into living rooms".

"A Few Good Men" premiered on Broadway in 1989 at the Music Box Theatre to critical acclaim. Three years later, he adapted it into the feature film starring Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson.

Sorkin will write the teleplay adaptation for the presentation, which will air in the second quarter of 2018. NBC had announced previous year that it would produce a live version of the play, originally slated for early 2017. A Few Good Men marks an ongoing relationship for the actor with NBC, building on his Emmy-nominated work on SNL and his award-winning role on 30 Rock.

Baldwin was just nominated for two Emmys: one in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for portraying Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live, and one for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program for hosting Match Game. The upcoming TV season will see a live production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Jesus Christ Superstar on Easter Sunday.

For Baldwin - and certainly NBC - there's some symbolic importance here beyond the role. The telecast will be produced by Universal Television in association with Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros.
