"Anybody that tells you they know what it's going to look like three years from now is delusional", Bowlsby said. I mean, we may be watching the Super Bowl on the insides of our eyelids before too long. So I don't - I really - it gets a little tiresome because I know we play at a very high level, and I know that top to bottom we're the best in the country in terms of balance.

Oklahoma's 35-19 win over Auburn.

FOX Sports Southwest's Ric Renner will host BIG 12 LIVE FROM MEDIA DAYS with FSSW college football analyst Gary Reasons, and reporter Erin Hartigan will interview Big 12 coaches throughout the two-day event.

"I came up as a wrestler, so I care a lot about the sport", Bowlsby said. It's about winning National Championships.

"This didn't come from the conference office, (Oklahoma State wrestling coach) John Smith and our four wrestling coaches are the ones that came to us and said, 'We think this makes some sense, '" Bowlsby said. "We relied in large measure on our intuition and some data that we saw that indicated that playing a championship game and having that 13th data point would, in fact, deliver that advantage".

The league distributed an average of $34 million per school for the 2016-17 school year, a record amount and 15 percent increase over the previous year.

The Big 12 had been the only of the Power Five leagues without a championship game last season. The date isn't finalized, and could be played on a Friday or Saturday.

The 65-year-old commissioner, hired by the Big 12 in 2012, said he's set to sign a contract extension through 2024-25. That would also take him through the negotiations of the league's next media rights contract.

Bowlsby said he ran into Stoops last weekend. "I plan to be here for a while". Stoops won 10 Big 12 titles and a national championship in his 18 seasons with the Sooners.

"He was a tremendous influence on his staff and his players and his university for a very long period of time. His legacy is extraordinary".

"We had a pretty good postseason despite not being in the CFP playoff". The new coaches have arguably the three biggest shoes in the conference to fill. "Among the critical success factors for any conference is the ability to distribute money to its members, and I think that we've continued to keep pace there".
