This is clearly very much a Frank de Boer signing and shows the manager's input is getting through already at Crystal Palace. The 20-year-old has been capped three times and joins Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has moved across the capital on a season-long loan from Chelsea, as a new arrival at Selhurst Park this summer.

According to widespread reports on Monday, the Eagles are now closing in on their second summer signing as the club seeks to solidify their backline.

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Jairo Riedewald from Ajax for €9m (£7.9m), reuniting the Dutch worldwide with his former manager in Amsterdam, Frank de Boer.

The 20-year-old is set for a €9 million move to the Eagles, the Telegraaf report the story as virtually a "done deal", while the Dutch global could join up with his new team mates in Hong Kong.

Known primarily as a centre-back, Riedewald has proven himself to be extremely versatile and can play on the left of the defence, as a holding man or in the centre of the midfield.

De Boer is also interested in Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi but faces competition from Stoke.

One player who is less likely to join the Eagles is Liverpool's Mamadou Sakho.
