With the new 302R, DSK Benelli aims to create a strong presence in the mid-size motorcycle segment of the Indian market.

Italian performance bike company Benelli today launched the 302R priced at Rs 3.48 lakh (ex-showroom) in the fast developing budget performance biking segment.

Design wise, the elegant and muscular Benelli Tornado 302R is based on a traditional Steel Trellis frame chassis that makes the motorcycle weigh less than its naked sibling, the TNT 300.

At the heart, the 302R gets the same power plant as the TNT 300.

The model is available across all DSK Benelli showrooms PAN India.

From the time we rode the pre-production version of the Benelli 302R in December previous year, it has been quite a long wait. Benelli will most likely offer Michelin or Metzeler tyres on the new 302R. The bike has a dry weight of 180 kg (16kg lighter that TNT 300 -196 kg). The 300cc, in-line 2, 8 valve water cooled engine makes 38.26bhp and 26.5Nm and comes paired with a 6-speed transmission. Although the company was initially scheduled to launch the bike in 2017, however, the introduction of the bike was postponed due to the new BS IV emission norms. DSK Benelli 302R superbike comes loaded with (ABS) as standard. Stopping power is provided by hydraulic double disc brakes upfront and a hydraulic single disc at the rear.

At that price the Benelli 302R is on the pricier side when lined up against its competition such as Yamaha YZF R3, Mahindra Mojo, Royal Enfield Thunderbird, Bullet and Classic, UM Renegade Sport S, TNT 300, KTM RC390 and the Duke 390.
