Man arrested after store clerk shot and killed during robbery

A Tampa man was charged with the shooting death of a store owner during an armed robbery Sunday, according to police.

Sheffield was arrested early Monday after police identified him through video surveillance from the store got a tip that he might be hiding out in a Tampa apartment.

At approximately 12:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery at the 29th Street Store, located at 2802 N. 29th Street.

Christopher Antonio Sheffield, 24, of Tampa, is charged with one count each of first degree murder, robbery with a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

On arrival, the Tampa PD discovered Mohanoud Ibrahim, 60, an employee at the 29th Street Store, had been shot and killed during the robbery attempt.
