Man dies after motorcycle hits hydro pole

London police are investigating a motorcycle crash that left one man dead early Monday morning. Upon the officers arrival they saw a 35-year-old Worcester man on the front lawn.

The driver was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead around 8:24 p.m., police said.

Police say the motorcycle was travelling northbound on Ridout when it lost control and struck a hydro pole and newspaper stand. The motorcycle, a 2004 Kawasaki came to a final rest facing north on the sidewalk in the southbound side of the road. "His identity is being withheld pending notification of family", police said.

Police have closed Ridout St. between Elmwood and Craig Streets as the investigation continues.
